The DIGICARE project is making progress in Sassari

On 25 to 26 March, the DIGICARE consortium gathered in Sassari, Italy, for its second Transnational Project Meeting. Hosted by our partner at the University of Sassari (UNISS), this two-day event brought the European partners together to share the progress made during the first months of the project and to plan the next steps in developing tailored digital training for social professionals.

Listening to the voices of professionals: focus groups results

A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the insights gathered from our national focus groups. Over the past months, partners engaged with 44 social intervention professionals and Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers across Germany, Spain, Belgium, and Italy.

The feedback collected was highly encouraging: participants clearly recognised the relevance of the proposed digital competencies and their direct connection to their daily work. However, the sessions also revealed some practical challenges, primarily the lack of time professionals have for self-training.

Shaping the training modules and best practices

Using these valuable insights, the consortium discussed how to structure the DIGICARE training platform to make  it easy and practical to use. The team is currently developing comprehensive guidelines to ensure that the learning pathways are flexible enough to adapt to the different profiles and knowledge levels of the professionals.

The team also kicked off the next project activity: the collection of 10 inspiring initiatives (best practices) in social intervention. These examples will showcase effective and transferable methodologies for working with vulnerable groups, providing practical steps for replication and recommendations on how to integrate digital tools into the intervention processes.

Learning from local practice in Sassari

Outside the meeting room, the consortium had the opportunity to visit Il Sognio Cooperative Sociale and the Don Muntoni community. This visit offered a close look at how local services support vulnerable children, young people, and individuals facing difficult social situations.

What is next?

Over the coming months the consortium will continue working on the collection of best practices and the design of the training modules, before meeting again in Brussels in October 2026.
