Recent reports from the European Anti-Poverty Network confirm that this figure continues to grow. This trend cannot be explained by a single cause. Rather, it is the result of a combination of structural and situational factors.

The COVID-19 pandemic, rising living and energy costs, and the socio-economic impact of recent conflicts have intensified existing inequalities and created new forms of social exclusion.

Behind every statistic, there are people.

And behind every social response, there are professionals working daily to support individuals, families and communities in vulnerable situations. 

Despite their critical role, many social organisations still rely on limited resources, small teams and largely manual processes. This makes it difficult to systematically collect and analyse data, measure impact, and improve interventions based on evidence.

DIGICARE supports a real shift in the way the social sector works.

By strengthening digital and data-related skills, the project seeks to reinforce social intervention as a key pillar of social cohesion and inclusion, enabling professionals to navigate today’s complex social realities more effectively.

At its core, DIGICARE provides practical learning resources on using data and artificial intelligence in everyday social practice.

The project is aimed at:

VET and CVET educators seeking to integrate advanced digital competencies into social intervention training programmes.

Safe-Hub Berlin

Safe-Hub Berlin is a community-based social intervention space run by AMANDLA, an international NGO operating in Germany, South Africa and the United States.

Located in Berlin-Wedding, one of the city’s most socioeconomically vulnerable neighbourhoods, Safe-Hub Berlin provides a safe and inclusive environment for children and young people facing inequality.

The centre combines a football pitch with a community space and offers educational, recreational and skills-based programmes, including its EduFootball approach.  This uses sport and play to foster resilience, social skills and positive values.

Through a holistic and collaborative model, Safe-Hub Berlin supports young people in accessing opportunities and building pathways towards a better quality of life.

Asociación Entre Amigos de Sevilla

Asociación Entre Amigos de Sevilla (EA) is a non-profit organisation specialising in social intervention. It works to improve the living conditions of children and families in Polígono Sur, one of Seville’s most socially and economically disadvantaged neighbourhoods.

Since 1985, EA has developed long-term educational, family and community-based initiatives, supporting over 1,000 children, young people and families each year through its daily work in local schools and community spaces.

Entre Amigos is also a pioneer in the digitalisation of the third sector, having developed its own data management system tailored to social intervention. This system supports evidence-based practice, process evaluation and informed decision-making.

EVTA

The European Vocational Training Association (EVTA) is a European network representing vocational education and training (VET) providers across Europe.

Since its foundation in 1998, EVTA has worked to strengthen lifelong learning, improve employability, and support the adaptation of VET systems to the needs of the labour market. Through policy advocacy and EU-funded projects, the association increases the attractiveness and relevance of vocational education.

EVTA comprises 45 member organisations from 22 European countries and is supported by an extensive network of over 1,000 VET providers, 35,000 VET staff, and 750,000 trainers and teachers spanning Europe and beyond.

UNISS

The University of Sassari (UNISS) is a medium-sized public university rooted in the complex social and cultural context of Sardinia, a Mediterranean island.

With a strong focus on internationalisation, UNISS works to enhance teaching and research while strengthening graduates’ employability by developing their transversal and professional skills.

Within the DIGICARE project, the Department of History, Human Science and Education contributes its expertise in the social sciences, education, and intercultural studies to prepare professionals to work in diverse, multicultural contexts in social services, non-profit organisations, education, and public institutions.

OnProjects

OnProjects is a consultancy specialising in the strategic communication, dissemination and impact of social innovation projects, with extensive experience in EU-funded initiatives.

Working with non-profit organisations, public authorities and educational and research institutions, OnProjects assists in the strategic management of European projects, translating complex initiatives into clear, accessible, impact-oriented communication.

In DIGICARE, OnProjects combines expertise in project management, communication strategy, graphic design and web development to support the creation of accessible digital learning spaces, ensuring that the project’s results are visible, usable and sustainable over time.
